After viewing the comparative documentary, "Side by Side", I personally feel that the movie making industry is right to shift to digital filming. According to the documentary, it is more cost effective, makes equipment easier to carry around, allows you to film for longer periods of time, and gives you the option of instant playback. It complies with our modern technology and is so much more convenient that I just don’t understand why you would do anything different. Although it is in most people’s opinions that 35mm film will give a picture better quality, with today’s technology digital films can easily be manipulated to look the same. By editing the color and the contrast, people can achieve the same results and then go on to do even more. By shooting digitally you can continue with computer animation and bring even more imaginative aspects to reality and go beyond what we have seen in films so far. However, if there are people out there who still want to use 33mm film, I don’t see any reason why they shouldn’t, but my personal opinion lies in the digital world.
