I believe that film is an art. And personally, I don’t think that art should be manipulated in order to create more profits. By doing this, you don’t allow the art to truly be what the artist had intended it to be. Instead, you are turning into something that society is expected to like. If we are always given what people expect us to like, then how would anything ever progress? With almost every form of art, people are weary of changes at first. They are unsure about the differences presented to them, but they will eventually grow to appreciate them in new ways as something unique and bold. As our species grows older, we go through this cycle time after time. What allows this to happen is new, controversial pieces that challenge people to grow in order to interpret them. If everything is handed to us on a platter, we would never get that opportunity. So, I think that producers should not be allowed to alter films however they please simply to make it what they expect people to like. Directors put a lot of work into creating their own artistic pieces and they should be allowed to do this however they please.
